Students participating in a Brighter Futures Learn and Serve grant program at Ferris State University.

Campus Engagement Fellows

During the 2008-2009 academic year, Michigan Campus Compact (MCC), with the support of the Investing in College Futures (ICF) grant program, will pilot a new Student Engagement Model which will offer an estimated five competitive reimbursement grants of up to $2,000.00 each for MCC member campuses. Each selected campus will select two students to participate in this project as a team. The goal of this program is to provide logistical and programmatic training to develop two new student leaders who can contribute to building a sustainable culture of service-learning and civic engagement on their campus in conjunction with the Community Service Director (CSD)/Service-Learning director (SLD).

The student teams, with the help of their CSD/SLD and the MCC Coordinator of Volunteer Mobilization (CVM), will engage the campus and community in an Martin Luther King (MLK) Jr. Day of Service event that addresses the needs of disadvantaged youth, mobilizes college students to become civically engaged citizens, and contributes to building a supportive infrastructure for civic engagement on campus.

Proposals must be received by Friday, May, 2, 2008
