1. How is Michigan Campus Compact governed and staffed?

2. How is Michigan Campus Compact funded?
Michigan Campus Compact ' s core operational budget is funded through membership dues paid by member institutions. This stability allows the Compact to focus its fundraising energies on raising money to support member campus programs through corporate, foundation, and government grants. Current and past funders include the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, the Corporation for National and Community Service, The McGregor Fund, Gerstacker Fund, Towsley Fund, the Michigan Community Service Commission, Campus Compact, the Pew Charitiable Trust, State Farm, etc.
3. How can I participate in the MCC network?
If you are affiliated with a member campus as staff, faculty or a student, the first thing you should do is make sure you are in Michigan Campus Compact ' s database and on one of the many constituent listservs offered. Those subscribed to listservs receive regular opportunity and resource updates, Campus Connections, and invitations to constituent meetings and events. Call 517.492.2424 or email smitter@micampuscompact.org to add yourself to the database and a listserv. In most cases, individuals on each campus are selected to serve on MCC constituent groups. The Student Community Action Network ( SCAN ), the Community Service Directors’ Council and the Faculty Steering Committee meet regularly. Member presidents meet yearly.
4. How does a campus join Michigan Campus Compact?
Formal membership in Michigan Campus Compact must come at the request of the college or university President or Chancellor. A letter of intent to join MCC should be sent to Amy Smitter , MCC Executive Director. This letter should state interest in becoming a member and make a commitment by the President to attend the annual Presidents' Council meeting each year and pay membership dues from their discretionary funds. Michigan Campus Compact staff are available to visit campus to talk with the President and other campus representatives about the benefits of membership. Membership in Michigan Campus Compact also includes membership in the national Campus Compact and the Michigan Nonprofit Association.
5. How do I know if I’m an MCC member?
All constituents associated with MCC member campuses are considered part of our network.
6. How do I get involved with those on my campus doing this work?
The best place to start is usually the Community Service or Service-Learning Director on your campus. View the current CSD contact list .
7. Why do Higher Education institution presidents join Michigan Campus Compact?
Presidents join for lots of reasons, but the primary reason is that they are committed to expanding and strengthening the civic education and community involvement of their campus for the better education of students.
8. What member benefits and services can I access?
MCC tries to offer a variety of benefits and services to members and individuals on member campuses. Primarily, MCC works to provide education, support and recognition for campus efforts.
9. How can I contribute to Michigan Campus Compact?
Michigan Campus Compact is always looking for creative and dynamic partnerships that will grow the fields of community service, service-learning and civic engagement opportunities for Michigan college students and their institutions. Partnerships could include but are not limited to funding, public relations, trainings and conferences, individual commitment and developing model programs.
