Dorthy is a 2008 graduate of Central Michigan University. She graduated with a degree in Integrated Public Relations and minor in Public Affairs. After two professtional maketing and communication internships Dorthy is joining the MCC staff as a Coordinator for Volunteer Program intern. Dorthy will be spearheading a new Campus Engagement Fellows Program and assisting with programs targeting disadvantaged youth.

Mary Estrada has worked with ConnectMichigan Alliance, Michigan Nonprofit Association (MNA), Michigan Campus Compact (MCC), Volunteer Centers of Michigan (VCM) and the Michigan LEAGUE since November 2002. During these six years, the roles held have been in several capacities from Program Coordinator for Michigan’s Promise to the Events Coordinator for MNA, VCM and MCC. Mary came to this organization after retiring from the state of Michigan with over 30 years experience in several different state departments. Mary’s last twelve years was working at the Michigan Community Service Commission.

Assistant Director for Training and Technical Assistance at Michigan Campus Compact (MCC) since July 2006, Ryan works with the Venture Grant and Michigan Service Scholars AmeriCorps programs. He communicates regularly with community service directors, faculty and students and is available for presentations, site visits and various trainings. He also plans several events including Service Leadership Camp, The Institute and various colloquia. Hailing from northern Michigan, Ryan received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Central Michigan University in Integrative Public Relations and Educational Administration and Community Leadership respectively. Prior to joining the Campus Compact team, Ryan served as an advocate of service at Saginaw Valley State University’s Student Life Center as Assistant Director and at Central Michigan University’s Volunteer Center as the Graduate Assistant. As a student, Ryan served in the MCC Student Community Action Network (SCAN) for four years and served as an MCC Student Fellow for one. He is active on several community boards including the Planned Parenthood of East Central Michigan Board of Directors and the Central Michigan University Alumni Association Board of Directors.

Ashley graduated from Spring Arbor University in 2008 with degrees in Psychology and Christian Ministry. While in college, she traveled cross-culturally, was active as a student leader, and interned with both nonprofit and governmental organizations. As Program Specialist, Ashley assists Michigan Campus Compact and Volunteer Centers of Michigan by supporting constituents and programs, along with coordinating and conducting special initiatives and projects.

Jessica graduated from Baker college with an Associates Degree in Business Administration in 2004. She interned with Owosso Public Schools, working mostly with the curriculum director. Her past experience includes working in the federal student loan industry. She lives in Lansing and is married with two daughters. Jessica assists with the Michigan Service Scholars Program, which provides $1,000 AmeriCorps education awards to students completing 300 hours of community service in one year.

Rachel manages the AmeriCorps * VISTA program for Michigan Campus Compact and Volunteer Centers of Michigan. She works closely with the VISTA members and their host site supervisors as well as providing a link to the state office. Rachel graduated from Michigan State University in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications. After graduating, she moved to Detroit to become a Michigan AmeriCorps Partnership member, where she worked with the Woodbridge Neighborhood Development Corporation and Summer In The City. After completing one term of AmeriCorps, Rachel worked as the Clean and Safe Program Manager for the East Warren Avenue Business Association, which is on the East Side of Detroit.

Laura Kummer is a recent graduate of Spring Arbor University with degrees in Business Administration and Clinical Sociology, with a concentration in International Change and Development. During college, Laura was able to study abroad and conducted research for a major relief and development agency in Washington, D.C. At MCC, she will be working as the Strategic Initiatives VISTA, conducting research, grants and data collection.

Shelley Long has been working with Michigan Campus Compact as the Executive Assistant since February of 2006. She works directly with Amy Smitter, scheduling her meetings and appointments, as well as with the Executive Director of the Volunteer Centers of Michigan. She maintains constituent databases, coordinates constituent mailings, plans leadership meetings, and assists with the coordination of colloquiums and conferences. Shelley has attended both Kalamazoo Valley Community College and Western Michigan University.

Mandy Paust is a 2008 graduate of Spring Arbor University with a ministry major and focus on sociology and global studies. She will be working as the Lead AmeriCorps*VISTA this year recruiting, training and providing support to the MCC AmeriCorps* VISTA members and host site supervisors. While in college, Mandy studied abroad in the Middle East and served as a relief intern at a major relief and development nonprofit.

Program Manager for the Investing in College Futures program since September 2006, Michelle trains and provides support to grantees, member campuses, and community partners. Michelle has most recently been working at the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Michigan as a Wish Manager. She has a Master's degree in Interpersonal and Public Communication from Central Michigan University and instructed classes at CMU. She obtained a B.A. from CMU in Communication and French. Michelle has presented at national faculty discipline conferences and has participated in numerous volunteer activities.
